overview GOA / GOKARNA / HAMPI

here some pictures from our trip to India. Goa: Calangute, Anjuna, Vagator, Chapora and famous Arambol. Later we travelled more south to the next amazing state; Karnataka. Just after the border to Goa, you can find Gokarn (or Gokarna) as westernes pronaunce it . A holy shiva town with a holy temple district and an colorful spectacle in february, the Shivatrah festival, a festival when locals pulling an very old and hughe chariot through the dusty mainstreet in the heat of the afternoon. Thousands of people joining this festival incl. some hippies of the time in the mass of pilgrims and visitors. Wonderfull, peacfull, colorfull. Real India. Gokarn is a green city under old trees and thousands of hughe plames. In the pitoresque town is a great tank (water reservoir) built, with a exellent view of the local live and the surrounding old town. In Karnataka is also the famous holy place of the city of Hampi. Hampi a small quiet village in the inner land of Karnataka (8 - 10 h from Gokarn). Hampi is lying in a pitoresque green palm valley surrounded with rocks. Its very peacful and a lot of cheep guesthouses are available. Either around the temple district or on the other side of the river, this has to be crossed by a small (full) boat. From Goa and Karnataka are buses and minibuses available. Taxis are convinient if you are a group of people travelling the same direction. Great drive great views, great scenerys.
