Kaosan Road, Banglapoo Area, BKK
The Kaosan Road is the largest traveler encounter globally. Here all the information and experiences of the many thousands travelers are coming together and are transmitted again. Here always somewhat is happening. Every day backpackers and tourist are coming and leaving this powerful place. International. It is a small global village, in the old part of Bangkok, near the river Chao Praya, the king’s temple, the famous Wat Po just nearby and the beautiful old Wat Arun on the other river side.
There are plenty of "guesthouses" and hotels, for each budget. A small temple district expands the zone to the "Chao Praya River", the main river in Bangkok, with its large and small boats.
There is also a very well established boat-taxi-system on the river, to get e.g. connected terminal of the Sky trains. Station Taskin Bridge. Tickets by the peer. Keep the ticket, always controls on the ride.
With the Sky train to the Siam Square or at the Sukkhumvit Road, or to the Chatuchack Weekend Market.
Kaosan Road Hotel Reservation: www.kaosanroad.com
At the Kaosan Road, there are very many Shops for the needs of the Traveler, just as a lot of Travel-Agency’s. These agencies are professional and friendly. Tickets into the entire world, Joint ticket for that continues, visa service etc. Nothing is missing at Kaosan Road.
Monday no night market stands in the street!!

| My choice for the Kaosan Road trip if coming from abroad: “Viengtai Hotel” at the parallel lain (Soi Rambutri ) to the Kaosan lain. Can be booked over www.kaosanroad.com. Booking by internet is better value. Price ca. 1800 - 2000 Baht for 2 persons. AC/TV/Mini/Bathtub, quiet. Kaosan can be very noisy if you end up on the wrong side of the buildings. |

For the small budget: Same lain "TUPTIM" with open cozy restaurants and very small AC or fan room, same owner as Viengtai. Without every comfort, clean and well maintained, external WC and shower in every floor. AC 550 Baht per night (2 beds) incl. ridiculous breakfast. |

getting a face treatment, always very good
Better value the nearby “Dom Inn Guesthouse”, AC/TV and Bathroom for 500 Baht good restaurant too.
To the Kaosan Road, it is only a short walk between the houses. At the same street, the Rambutri Road, there you will find delicious open restaurants for every budget. The street leads over a main street (crossing) into the temple district, with many Guesthouses and restaurants. Investigate the beautiful and relaxing atmosphere and ambiences in the old part of the giant city, near by the river and a quite small park where the Thais doing their hobbies. Very nice in the after noon and sunset time (18:30).
There is also a Muslim restaurant for connoisseur with "Roti and Curry’s it", very good. Reminds one me always of Penang or northern India.
From that small park, there is a walk path to the river taxi peer, where you can catch a boot (different lines) to enjoy the scenery. Take the boat, line down the river, until “Taksin Bridge”. Here is one of the end stations of the “Sky Train” (Siemens). This line brings you direct to the modern part from Bangkok, such as Siam Square, Sukkhumvit etc. Bangkok is fully cool.
Chatuchak (or Jatujak), Weekend Market (by Bus No 3), take the bus down at the Soi Rambutri (parallel lain of Kaosan). The bus then drives to the end-station first! You just remaining in the bus. He will start from there and the bus is nearly empty. You can sit all 30-40 minute trip until CHATUCHAK. Sometimes they give you the advice to leave the bus, but showing you where to wait for the next No 3 Bus.
Also Bus No 524 serves to Chatuchak (or Jatujak) but leaves from the big main street.
Phantip Plaza (all about computer) take the bus no.501, ask the people at the bus stop. Same stop also Pratunam Market and shopping center (whole sale for clothing)
